October 26, 2021 The Honorable Carolyn B. Maloney Chairman, Committee on Oversight and Reform United States House of Representatives Washington, DC 20515
Dear Madam Chairwoman:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is establishing a new Privacy Act system of records, NRC 46, Health Emergency Records. The NRC proposes to establish this system of records to protect the agencys workforce and respond to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In accordance with the guidance in Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular No A-108, Federal Agency Responsibilities for Review, Reporting, and Publication under the Privacy Act, reissued December 23, 2016, the NRC is enclosing copies of the narrative statement and proposed system of records notice. The NRC requests expedited review due to the upcoming reentry of the workforce to NRC offices scheduled for November 8, 2021, and the need to collect vaccination information, including exceptions thereto, as soon as possible. The NRC has also sent similar letters and attachments to the Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the U.S. Senate and the Acting Administrator of the OMB Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.
If you have any questions about the proposed revisions, please contact Mr. Eugene Dacus, Director of the Office of Congressional Affairs, by telephone at (301) 415-1776 or by e-mail to Eugene.Dacus@nrc.gov.
Sincerely, Digitally signed by Daniel H.
