By letter dated March 3,'1989 you proposed changes to license commitments 7,14 and 16 of Appendix 1B of the Updated Safety Analysis Report (USAR) for Perry Unit I and requested NRC approval. These commitments relate to upgrading of neutron monitoring instrumentation to conform to Regulatory Guide 1.97, Revision 2, instrument setpoint methodology and gaseous effluent sampling system representative sampling.
Based econ our review, we find your proposed changes to be acceptable as modified. The details of our review are contained in the. enclosed' Safety Evaluation.
You also proposed to delete commitments 8 (detailed control room design review) and 10 (TDI diesel engines) from Appendix 1B of the Perry Unit 1L USAR since both commitments are also license conditions in the Facility Operating License. The staff would prefer that you continue to include these commitments in Appendix 1B for tracking purposes and merely update their status (such changes are allowed without NRC staff approval) until such time as all of the Appendix 1B commitments have been met.
