This is to advise you of a maintenance team inspection that has been scheduled at the Waterford Steam Electric Station Unit 3 site during the weeks of January 17 and January 30, 1989.
As part of the preparation for this inspection, we desire to hold a one to two day meeting with members of your staff at the Waterford 3 site during the week of December 12, 1988. During this meeting, the scope of the inspection will be presented.
The team leader and principal contact for this inspection is Mr. Raymond Mullikin. The inspection team will consist of two Region IV reactor inspectors (Messrs. Robert Vickrey and Perry Stewart), a Region IV radiation specialist (Mr.RonaldBaer),aRegionIVresidentinspector,aRegionIVprojectinspecter (Mr. Glen Madsen), and two engineering specialists (either NRC Headquarters or contractor personnel). Mr. James Gagliardo, the Region IV manager of the maintenance team inspection effort, will also accompany the team to assist in evaluating management control of maintenance activities.
The inspection team is scheduled to arrive on site the morning of January 17, 1989, at approximately 9 a.m., and those who are not currently badged at the Waterford 3 site will require the appropriate site-specific training for unescorted access. The information for unescorted access will be provided in aparate correspondence.
The inspection team would like to schedule an entrance interview at approximately 9:30 a.m. on January 17, 1989. The exit interview will be scheduled on February 3,1989, at a time that is suitable to your staff and the inspection team. The team leader will debrief your staff regarding preliminary findings and concerns on a daily basis.
