Dear Mr. Stolz:
On June 8, 1981, Florida Pow %poration (FPC) received the Crystal RDier Unit 3, Environmental Qualifliacion of Safety-related Electrical Equipment Safety Evaluation Report (Reference 1). This SER requested FPC to provide to the NRC by September 8, 1981, item by item reevaluation of environmental qualific.ation of electrical equipment included in our submittal of April 21, June 30, and October 31, 1980, to comply with the Order of Modification of License, dated October 24, 1980. This letter is being submittM to request an extension on the 90-day subraittal.
Since the receipt of the SER, FPC has been working with Gilbert Associates, Inc., (GAI) on the required 90-day submittal. Also, FPC and GAI personnel attended the NRC's Equipment Qualification meeting, July 7-10, 1981, held in Bethesda, Maryland. Following this meeting, a detailed review of the SER and the " Expected Licensee Response to the Equipment Qualification SERs" [see Reference (2)] was made to identify the scope of work and schedule to develop the required response. The scope of work as identified in Reference (2) will require until November 8,1981, for completion for the followinS reasons:
