PARTICIPATION IN PILOT PROGRAM FOR ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTIONOF CORRESPONDENCE TO EXELON GENERATION COMPANY, LLC (EXELON WEST)The Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission(NRC) upholds the principles of open and effective regulatory activities. To improve the efficiency and effectiveness of communication with internal and external stakeholders, the NRR staff would like to change the method of distributing its correspondence. Specifically, the NRR staff is proposing to replace hard-copy distribution with electronic distribution of power reactorlicense amendments, requests for additional information, and other operating reactor licensing projects via electronic mail (e-mail).Currently, the NRR staff provides paper copies for licensing activities to the addressee andeach entity on the carbon copy (cc) list, otherwise known as the Service List. In the future, the NRR staff intends to provide those on the Service List with the correspondence Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Number. The ADAMS Accession Number provides access to the correspondence via the NRC's public web page (www.nrc.gov). The addressees will continue to receive the official NRC hard-copy. Thedistribution of correspondence containing safeguards, proprietary or security-related information, or other information that is withheld from public disclosure will not be affected by this initiative at the present time.In order to evaluate the feasibility of this change, the NRR staff will engage in a pilot program. Exelon Generation Company, LLC, one of the NRC's licensees, has agreed to participate in this pilot program. The Exelon plants included are: Byron Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2; Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2; Clinton Power Station, Unit No. 1; Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3; LaSalle County Station, Units 1 and 2; and Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2 collectively referred to as Exelon West. The pilot program is planned to begin July 1 and end September 30, 2007.You are currently on the Service List for at least one of the Exelon West plants listed above. Inorder to participate in this electronic distribution pilot program, we request that you provide an e-mail address that we may use for distribution. Note that the NRC will not include your e-mail address to others listed on the Service List to maintain your privacy. Rather, your name or title and affiliation will be included on distribution. Please use Enclosure 1 as your guide to submit the requested information by June 25, 2007, via e-mail to the individual identified on the enclosure. Also, if you no longer desire to be on the Service List, please include this in your response and your name will be removed.Please note that we intend to discontinue distribution of paper copies of correspondence for theExelon West facilities on July 1, 2007.
