ACTIVITIES AT R.E. GINNA NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
Dear Mr. Wallace:
On May 23, 2007, you sent a letter to Chairman Klein, acknowledging concerns recentlybrought to your attention regarding work environment and management issues at Constellation Generation Group's (Constellation's) R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant (Ginna). In your letter to Chairman Klein, you acknowledge the importance of these concerns and described Constellation's responsibility to ensure safe operation of Ginna. You also described Constellation's commitment to investigate and take actions as necessary.Our preliminary NRC review of these concerns indicates no immediate safety issues. However,our NRC review is ongoing and will include review of Constellation's investigation assessment and results. We understand that Constellation has taken or planned several actions in response to these concerns, including forming multiple investigation teams to investigate the issues, assess the safe operation of the facility, determine potential root causes for any identified issues, and determine appropriate corrective actions.Additionally, the NRC will continue to review change management issues as part of our plannedsupplemental inspection effort at Ginna associated with the yellow performance indicator on emergency response drill participation.Sincerely,/RA/Samuel J.
