~~I~~aE~(o-\TESTREPORT-.APRIL29,1969A.SHOCKANDVIBRATIONTEST=Y',TheL'imitorqueOperatorsizeSMB-0witha15footpound,3phase,60cycle,440voltmotor,nameplateorder5338164wasshippedtoLockheedElectronicsCompanyenvironmentallabratoryandtestedonMarch10,1969.TestProcedureThe.testspecimenwassecuredtoavibrationmachineandsubjectedto-fivecyclesofvibrationinboththeverticalaxisandthehorizontalaxis.Eachcycleconsistedoftwominutesofvibrationatafrequencyofthirty-five(35)cpsandanaccelerationlevelofthree(3)"G's",followedbyoneminuteofnovibration.Vibrationscanswerealsoconductedinbothaxisofvibrationbetweenfivetothirty-fivecpstodeterminethepresenceofany'Iresonances.Visualinspectionsforevidenceofanyexternalphysicaldamagewereconductedthroughoutthevibrationtesting.Thevibrationtestwascompletedwithnovisualevidenceofanyexternalphysi-caldamage.Noresonancesweredetecteddu'ringthevibrationscans.<'rr.TheaboveisincludedinLockheedElectronicsCompanyTestReport02268-4618.

~)PageApril29,1969ThepreviousshockandvibrationtestofaLimitorqueOperatorwasextendedto'16and25cps.Theabovetestextendedthelevelto3G'sat35cps.B.'ESTOFGEAREDLIMITSNITCHNITHMATERIALCHANGE:On,theprevioustestofaLimitorqueOperatorassubmittedJanuary2,1969,afailureoccurredduetotheactionofthechemicalsprayonthematerialofthegearframeofthegearedlimit,switch.Thi,scausedthepremature,failureofthegearedlimitswitch.Thegearframematerialhasbeenchangedasprev-iouslyrecommendedandanadditionaltestofthisrevisedgearedlimitswitchha'sbeenconductedatTheFranklinInstituteResearchLabratoriesinPhiladelphia,PennsylvaniaonApril9throughApril16,1969.Thegearedlimitswitchwasplacedinthesameenvironmentalchamberastheprevioustestandwasusedinconjunctionwithstartingandstoppinganelectricmotoralsointhetestchamber.Theenvironmentconsistedofasevendaytestwhereinthegearedlimitswitchwasexposedtohighsteampres'sure,temperatureandchemicalenvironmentsimilartotheprevioustest.Thenewgearedlimitswitchsuccessfullycompletedthetestwithnosignofwearordeteriorationduetothesteampressure, 0'
