"STEAMGENERATORTUBEINSPECTIONS"AninserviceeddycurrentexaminationofselectedtubesintheNo.1Aand1BSt.LucieUnitNo.1steamgeneratorswasperformedduringtheperiodofA'pril26through.May2,1980,byC-EPowerSystems,SystemIntegrityServicespersonnel.Theinspectionwasconductedinaccor-dancewithC-ETestProcedureNos.00000-SIS-005,RevisionOland00000-ESS-070,Revision02,andsatisfiedtherequirementsoftheSt.LuciePlantTechnicalSpecification3/44-5andtheA'SMEBoilerandPressureVesselCode,SectionZI,1974EditionthroughtheSummer1976Addenda.Theinspectionprogramconsistedofmulti-frequencytestingforthedetectionoftubewallanomaliesandtheassessmentoftubedentingwithbothdatabeingtakensimultaneouslywithonepassof-.theeddycurrentprobethroughthetube.25KHztestingforsludgeaccumulationonthesecondarysideof.thehotsidetubesheetswascarriedout.Selectionoftubestobeexaminedwasbasedonanevaluationofwhere,inthetubebundle,problemshadoccurredinothersteamgeneratorsinservice.Thedatafromtheinspectionwasrecordedonmagnetictapeandalsoontwochannelstripchartrecorderswiththefirst.recorderrecordingflawdataandthesecondrecorderrecordingdentdata.TheserecordingswereevaluatedbythedataanalystandtheresultsrecordedonEddyCurrentExaminationReportSheets..TableI,below,summarizestheresultsofthisinspection.TableIalsoliststhenumberoftubesinspectedduringeachofthethreetestperiods,bothfromthehotandthecoldsides.Thisnumberdoesnotcoincidewiththecomparisontabletubecountlistedunder"TubesInspected"becuasenotalltubestestedpassthrough.theNumber9and10drilledsupportplates.Duringthisinspection,alltestingwascarriedoutfromthehotside.Theprobewasadvancedupthehotlegside,throughthe",U"bendanddownthecoldsidetoapointbelowtheNumber9coldsidesupportplate.Datawastherebycollectedforboththehotlegandcoldlegsidesofthesupportplates.Theeddycurrenttestresultsindicatethatthe.existingdentsshowlittlechangeinmagnitude(<+0.5mils)atthedrilledsupportplateelevationson.boththehotandcoldsidesofbothsteamgeneratorsintheperiodbetweentheMay1979andApril1980inspections.There'ishoweveranincreaseinthenumberandpercentageoftubesdentedinboththelAand1B.steamgenerators.Therewerenoreportableflawsdetectedduringthis.examination.74
