Docket Nos. 50-250, 50-251 Supplemental Response to Order for Interim Safeguards and Security Compensatory Measures On March 14, 2002, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), in letter L-2002-054, responded to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) Order for Interim Safeguards and Security Compensatory Measures dated February 25, 2002 (Order). The purpose of this letter is to supplement FPL's original response with clarifications on several of the items contained in the Order.
This supplemental response is the follow-up action to a conference call held between NRC and FPL on April 17, 2002. The clarifications are simply enhancements to FPL's original response and do not result in any changes to FPL's original commitments to the Order.
In its review to fully understand the objectives of, and methods for, compliance with each interim measure, FPL has used the NEI guidance document provided to the NRC on February 28, 2002.
Additionally, on March 15, 2002 in letter L-2002-055, FPL requested an extension of time in which to seek a hearing on Items B.2.a(1), B.2.a(2), and B.2.b. As discussed with the NRC on May 1, 2002, FPL affirms that it is requesting an extension of time in which to request a hearing until June 30, 2002.
At this time, FPL believes that it will be in full compliance with the Order by the required date of August 31, 2002.
