Petition to Permanently Shut San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Date: ¥II 1r~ /
Chair Allison M. Macfarlane U.S. Nuclear Regulatorl Commission Washington, DC 20555-0001 We, the undersigned, want to see San Onofre Nucl~ar Generating Station permanently shut down.
Our rationale includes many common sense reasons. Among them are:
- ongoing problems with the steam generators and associated safety issues
- worst safety record in the US
- location in an active earthquake/tsunami zone
- lack of safe long term storage for high level nuclear waste
- no realistic evacuation plan
- reduced property values SONGS unnecessarily compromises the safety and security of our families, and at exorbitant expense to ratepayers 13.nd taxpayers. We have no need for the energy produced by this plant, because we have stored~:mergy exce~ses and more viable alternat!ye sources of power.
