Nelson Grace, Administrator U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Suite 2900 101 Marietta Street NW Atlanta, GA 30323 BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT UNIT 1 DOCKET NO. 50-325 LICENSE NO. DPR-71 SPECIAL REPORT PER TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 3.7.7.2 AND PURSUANT TO TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 6.9.2 (1-SR-85-4)
Dear Dr. Grace:
During an ongoing Unit I refueling / maintenance outage concurrent with power operation of Unit 2, Unit 1 and 2 LCOs were established on May 7, 1985, for fire protection deluge valve 2-FP-DV-13 to the sprinkler system of the units' common No. 1 emergency diesel generator. This was done to permit isolating the valve for replacement of a bent clapper in the valve-body housing. Due to the amount of time required to complete the involved repair, the specified 14-day time frames of the subject LCOs were exceeded by nine days and six hours.
While the subject LCOs were in effect, appropriate fire watches and backup fire suppression equipment were maintained.

Very truly yours,
