Re: Watts Bar (Tenn.) Unit 2 Public Comment TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Please accept these written comments as part of the Scoping Process of the Watts Bar (Tenn.) Unit 2 Reactor. I was unable to attend the public meeting earlier this year.
I fully support the decision of the Tennessee Valley Authority to complete construction of Unit 2, at the Watts Bar Nuclear Reactor site and urge favorable consideration from the NRC.
TVA's decision to complete construction of Unit 2 results from detailed studies of not only cost and energy needs, but environmental impacts as well. These studies satisfy me that the project is feasible and environmentally responsible. Moreover, completion of Unit 2 makes good sense, because it uses an existing asset to meet the growing power needs of the Tennessee Valley.
The project will generate thousands of jobs during construction period and 250 permanent jobs in a region characterized by double digit unemployment.
For tljese reasons, I support the project and urge prompt regulatory disposition.
