"At approximately 0945 [EST] on 12/30/2016 an Atlantic Sturgeon was removed from the Salem Unit 2 Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. The Sturgeon was alive upon retrieval and released back to the river at 1207. A report was made by Environmental Licensing to the National Marine Fisheries at 1216 and the NJDEP [New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection] Division of Fish & Wildlife at 1217, concerning the Atlantic sturgeon.
"Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this event warrants a 4 hr report to the NRC under RAL 11.8.2.a."
The NRC Resident Inspector and the Lower Alloways Creek Township were notified.
Notified the R1DO (Lilliendahl) and Endangered Species Group via email.
