Therefore, therequiredinspection intervalvariesinversely withtheobservedsnubberfailures.
Thenumberofinoperable snubbersfoundduring'an inspection ofthesesnubbersdetermines thetimeintervalforthenextrequiredinspection ofthesesnubbers.
Inspections performed beforethatintervalhaselapsedmaybeusedasanewreference pointtodetermine thenextinspection.
However,theresultsofsuchearlyinspections performed beforetheoriginalrequiredtimeintervalhaselapsed(nominaltimeless25$)maynotbeusedtolengthentherequiredinspection interval.
Anyinspection whoseresultsrequireashorterinspection intervalwilloverridethepreviousschedule.
Toprovidefurtherassurance ofsnubberreliability, arepresentative sampleoftheinstalled snubberswillbefunctionally testedduringplantshutdowns at18monthintervals.
Thesetestswillincludestrokingofthesnubberstoverifyproperpistonmovement, lock-upandbleed.Observedfailuresofthesesamplesnubberswillrequirefunctional testingofadditional units.Tominimizepersonnel exposures, snubbersinstalled inhighradiation zonesorinespeciallydifficult toremovelocations (asidentified inTable3.7-2)maybeexemptedfromthesefunctional testingrequirements providedtheOPERABILITY ofthesesnubberswasdemonstrated duringfunctional testingateitherthecompletion oftheirfabrication oratasubsequent date.3/4.7.11FIRESUPPRESSION SYSTEMSTheoperability ofthefiresuppression systemsensuresthatadequatefiressuppression capability isavailable toconfineandextinguish firesoccurring inanyportionofthefacilitywheresafetyrelatedequipment islocated.Thefiresuppresion systemconsistsofthewatersystem,firehosestations, yardfirehydrants, hydranthosehouses,andsprayand/orsprinkler systems.Thecollective capability ofthefiresuppression systemsisadequatetominimizepotential damagetosafetyrelatedequipment andisamajorelementinthefacilityfireprotection program.Intheeventthatportionsofthefiresuppressionsystemsareinoperable, alternate backupfirefightingequipment isrequiredtobemadeavailable intheaffectedareasuntiltheinoperable equipment isrestoredtoservice.ST.LUCIE-UNIT1B3/47-65/6/81
