Interim 10CFR50.55(e) Report; Westinghouse EMD Gate Valve Position Indication
Dear Sir:
l In Reference (c), we filed an interim 10CFR50.55(e) report regarding the potential for certain Westinghouse manufactured gate valves to indicate they are closed prior to the valve disc fully isolating flow.
Should the valve stall or bind following the premature indication, the operator would have an inaccurate indication of true valve position.
The reportability of this potential 10CFR50.55(e) item is still under investigation. A detailed i
description of this deficiency, analysis of safety implications, and the l
corrective action taken will be reported by June 10, 1983.
