Subject:

Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC Oconee Nuclear Station, Units 1, 2, and 3 Renewed Facility Operating License, DPR-38, DPR-47, and DPR-55 Docket Numbers 50-269, 50-270, and 50-287 Request to Withhold Sensitive Information in Presentation Materials left with the Staff On May 11, 2009, Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (Duke) participated in a closed meeting with NRR and Region II staff at NRC headquarters. Duke presented information related to inundation and sensitivity studies concerning failure of the Jocassee Dam and resultant flooding at the Oconee Nuclear Station.

At the meeting, Duke provided the following three (3) drawings for reference in the discussion:

1. Drawing of Keowee-Toxaway project depicting Lakes Jocassee, Keowee and Hartwell.
2. Topographical drawing of Oconee Nuclear Station.
3. Aerial photographic view of Oconee Nuclear Station with topographical overlays.

Because these drawings contain commercially sensitive information, Duke hereby requests the NRC withhold the above-referenced documents from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.390 (d) (1), "Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding."

Inquiries on this letter should be directed to Robert C. Meixell of the Oconee Regulatory Compliance Group at (864) 873-3279.

Sincerely, D~ave B _ter, Vice President Oconee Nuclear Station
