ACCEPTANCE FOR REVIEW REGARDING TRAVELER TSTF-565, CLARIFY THE TERM OPERATIONAL CONVENIENCE IN THE LCO 3.0.2 BASES (CAC NO. MF9956)

Dear Members of the Technical Specifications Task Force:

By letter dated May 9, 2017 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML17130A813), you submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) a request to incorporate Traveler TSTF-565, Clarify the Term Operational Convenience in the LCO 3.0.2 Bases, into the standard technical specifications.

Section 170.21 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations requires that Travelers are subject to fees based on the full cost of the review. You did not request a fee waiver; therefore, NRC staff hours have been billed accordingly. The NRC staff estimates that the review will require approximately 280 staff hours including project management time.

The NRC staff has completed a preliminary review of your submission and determined it is sufficiently complete and appropriate to initiate a more comprehensive review. The review of Traveler TSTF-565 will generally follow the schedule below.

MILESTONE SCHEDULE DATE Issue Request for Additional Information October 30, 2017 Issue Draft Safety Evaluation April 23, 2018 Issue Final Safety Evaluation July 31, 2018 Dates are provided for draft and final safety evaluations (SEs). It may be determined that SEs will not be issued, because this traveler is a bases only change. If you have any questions, please contact me at (301) 415-1774 or via e-mail to Michelle.Honcharik@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA/
