Mr. Steven A. Varga, Chief Operating Reactors Branch #1 Division of Licensing February 3, 1982 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 7920 Norfolk Avenue Bethesda, MD 20014
Dear Mr. Varga:
AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE DPR-75 SALEM GENERATING STA'I'ION UNIT NO. 2 DOCKET NO. 50-311 The subject amendment provides relief from a limit of 90 hours0.00104 days
0.025 hours
1.488095e-4 weeks
3.4245e-5 months
per year for the use of the Pressure/Vacuum Relief portion of the Containment Ventilation System.
Included in our request for this license change was a proposed administrative goal of 2000 hours0.0231 days
0.556 hours
0.00331 weeks
7.61e-4 months
per year for the use of the system.
We have reevaluated that stated goal.
In our December 22, 1981 response to your review of generic con-cerns of contaiment purge and vent operations for Salem Unit No.l, we proposed a goal which would limit the use of the system to 1000 hours0.0116 days
0.278 hours
0.00165 weeks
3.805e-4 months
per year.
Since the units are essentially identical and can be reasonably expected to have similar operating times for the Pressure/Vacuum Relief System, we propose that the system, which is used only for safety purposes, be subject to the same goal of 1000 hours0.0116 days
0.278 hours
0.00165 weeks
3.805e-4 months
per year.
If you have any further questions, we will be pleased to discuss them with you.
