I would like to thank you and your staff for leading a tour and presentation of the N.S. Savannah for members of my staff and other regional employees on October 30, 2019. I believe that the tour that you led, along with a description of a part of the rich history of President Eisenhowers Atoms for Peace, provided an appreciation of the current decommissioning activities and challenges of the N.S. Savannah. The opportunity to tour such a unique nuclear ship and opportunity to see the nuclear reactor was particularly insightful, especially for the members of our staff who do not normally perform reactor inspection work. Included with this letter, please find an NRC value coin for Openness. Openness is one of the seven NRC organizational values, and I felt that this activity reflected MARADs commitment to openness with transparent communications and trustworthiness. Thank you again for taking the time to implement an outstanding tour and very informative presentation.

SUBJECT:

APPRECIATION FOR PRESENTATION AND TOUR OF THE N.S. SAVANNAH

Dear Mr. Koehler:

Sincerely,

/RA/
