This letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition initially reported to the Commission under the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e).
CG&E Nonconformance Report #0-NPD-82-2140-E was generated which noted that motor operated Anchor-Darling valves with anti-rotational devices were subject to operational failure if the set screw holding the stem collar in place should loosen.
An engineering evaluation has determined that because this con-dition could potentially affect the safety of operations, this item is considered reportable.
The CG&E Nuclear Production Department is presently considering mea:sures for preventing such an occurrence. Among the corrective actions being considered is the staking of the set screw. A final determination of action to be taken will be made by August 31, 1982, at which time a final report will be suhnitted.
