Dear Mr. McCann:

1 JYour Quality Assurance Program A) proval No. 0805 is hereby terminated. The

~ Nuclear-Regulatory Commission pu)11shed a final rule.. effective June 27. 1997 revising the requirements of 10 CFR Part 34 " Licenses for Industrial Radiography-and Radiation Safety Requirements for Industrial Radiographic Operations." The revision, which contained numerous changes in-the

requirements, also modified the quality assurance-(0A) requirements for

' transportation. ~As a result of these changes, a separate NRC OA program approval is no longer needed.-

Specifically, transportation activities are now contained in a new paragraph, 10 CFR-71.101(g).

This provision was added to the regulations and requires-that ins devices.pection and maintenance3rograms limited to radiographic exposure source changers, or paccages transporting these devices and meeting the provisions of 10 CFR Part 34.31(b), or equivalent Agreement-State regulations, satisfy the generdl_ license requirements specified in 10 CFR Part

-71.12(b).for Type B transport packages.
