Subject: Inspection No. 50-289/88-10

A routine safety inspection of your radiological effluent controls program was

conducted by Mr. B. S. Davidson of this of fice on May 2-6, 1988 at the Three

Mile Island Station, Unit One. Our findings were discussed with yourself and

others of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection on May 6, 1988.

The areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I

Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within those areas, the

inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and

representative records, interviews with personnel and observations by the
