FUEL PLANT IN METROPOLIS, ILLINOIS The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will hold a meeting with officials of the AlliedSignal, Inc., commercial nuclear fuel facility in Metropolis, Illinois, on Thursday, June 12, to discuss the plant's performance.
Itisopenforpublicobservation.NRCofficialswilldiscusswithAlliedSignalaLicenseePerformanceReviewperformedbytheagencyinwhichperformance insafetyoperations,radiologicalcontrols,andfacilitysupport wasreviewedforaperiodfromJanuary1,1995,throughJanuary 10ofthisyear.TheNRCreviewconcludesthat"overallperformancewasfocusedonsafety"butweaknesseswerenotedintheareasof wastemanagement,preventivemaintenance,proceduraladherence andadequacy,andknowledgeoflicenserequirements.

NRC officials will discuss with AlliedSignal a Licensee Performance Review performed by the agency in which performance in safety operations, radiological controls, and facility support was reviewed for a period from January 1, 1995, through January 10 of this year.
