COOPER NUCLEAR STATION - REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RE: REACTOR EQUIPMENT COOLING SYSTEM (TAC NO. MD8374)

Dear Mr. Minahan:

By application dated March 24, 2008, Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD, the licensee) requested the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff approval of an amendment to the Cooper Nuclear Station facility operating license and technical specifications (TSs) to revise TS Section 3.7.3, "Reactor Equipment Cooling (REC) System," to allow credit for the ability to align the service water (SW) system to the REC system.

The NRC staff reviewed the information provided in your application and determined that additional information is required in order to complete its review. Please provide a response to the enclosed questions by September 5, 2008.

The NRC staff considers that timely responses to requests for additional information help ensure sufficient time is available for staff review and contribute toward the NRC=s goal of efficient and effective use of staff resources. If circumstances result in the need to revise the requested response date, please contact me at (301) 415-2296.

Sincerely,
