Eight loggerhead turtles and five green turtles were removed from the St. Lucie Plant intake canal during the October December quarter of 1990. All were released into the ocean from Hutchinson Island. Measurements for all animals are attached.

Also, Dr. Wilcox has forwarded a report of a sea turtle being removed from the Port Everglades Plant intake canal by FPL personnel. The turtle was removed on 4 December and weighed approximately 75 pounds. It was released alive.

~ABI recapture. This turtle was removed from the intake canal, tagged (AAJ723/PPW349) and released 2.5 km south of the intake on 30 MAY 89. When it was recaptured in the intake canal on 6 SEP 90, AAJ723 was missing. Tags AAJ&74 and PPW538 were applied on that date and the turtle was released just south of the intake.

2ABI recapture. This turtle was removed from the intake canal and released 8.0 km south of the intake on 11 OCT 90 (see Footnote 1 for prior captures).

Tag AAJ&78 was applied on 15 OCT 90.

~Tag return. FDNR headstart turtle (1987 hatch). This turtle was tagged (PPV304) and released from Stuart Beach (15.3 km south of the intake) on 20 MAY 88. Upon recapture on 30 OCT 90, PPV304 was removed and PPW547 and PPW548 were applied.
