SUMMARY
OF THE APRIL 12, 2006, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THEPRAIRIE ISLAND UNITS 1 AND 2 END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENTOn April 12, 2006, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at thePrairie Island Training Center in Welch, MN. The meeting was between NRC Region IIImanagement and Nuclear Management Company management to discuss the NRC'sassessment of Prairie Island Units 1 and 2's safety performance for the period from January 1 through December 31, 2005. The meeting notice and NRC presentation can be found in theAgencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML060860477 and ML061090490, respectively. A list of principal NRC and licensee meeting participants can befound in the attached Enclosure.The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRC's Reactor Oversight Program (ROP),national ROP results, and the Action Matrix in general. This was followed by a discussion of the NRC's assessment of Prairie Island Units 1 and 2's performance in calendar year 2005, whichwas documented in the March 2, 2006, end-of-cycle assessment letter, as ML060610225. Aspart of this regulatory performance meeting, NMC briefly responded to the NRC's assessment.
