V information in this record was deleted in accordance withhe Freedom of Information Act, exemptions E01k, )o o nnl vvnii -I-ly'aistepr agez,, Andrea Blizard Sr. Communications Specialist Indian Point Energy Center 914-271-7081 I f I vrI 1-i~yS --- ,~1z, e-LUu.u0G Page 1 Indian Point Energy Center Status Report August 23, 2006 Operational Status At 10:36 a.m. today. operators at the Indian Point 2 nuclear plant took prudent measures to manually shut down the reactor after detecting a problem with a heat drain tank level control system. The system monitors water level in a tank that captures drain water from heaters that heat the non-radioactive water, which is eventually returned to the steam generators.

An investigation into the cause of the monitoring system malfunction is in progress.The plant will return to service once the cause is identified and a repair is made.IP2 safely operated for 97 continuous days.Indian Point Unit 3 is at 100% reactor power and has been on line 33 days.Educational Outreach Entergy Nuclear Northeast provides customized outreach education programs for schools, youth groups, and civic organizations.
