Dear Chairman Jaczko:

I am writing today to strongly endorse the position that my fellow members of the Congress, Senators Leahy and Sanders and Representative Welch from Vermont, have taken in urging the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to ensure a safe and expeditious decommissioning process at the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant at the time the plant ceases operations.

My District (MA01) is located directly downstream and five miles across the state border from this facility.

As a result, my constituents have an equal interest in the immediate dismantlement of Vermont Yankee as do the residents of Vermont.For all the reasons that my colleagues carefully outlined in their letter to you dated February 28, 2011, I respectfully request that the NRC do everything possible to ensure the safe and expeditious decommissioning of the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant.
