Dear Mr. O'Connor:
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff, with support of contractors, performed an audit of technical information owned by Westinghouse Electric Company and Northern State Power Company (NSPM) to support use of the Nordic Steam Dryer for the proposed extended power uprate, currently under NRC staff review. The audit was held on April 7-8, 2011 at the Rockville, Maryland offices of Westinghouse Electric.
Enclosed please find the NRC staff's audit report. The audit report identifies a total of eighteen (18) action items in Section 4. These action items were discussed during the audit. Please address the action items as identified in the audit report. If your personnel so desire, we would be glad to discuss these action items with them in a teleconference.
Timely resolution of these action items is necessary before the NRC staff can complete its review of the Nordic steam dryer for the proposed extended power uprate. The enclosed audit report will be withheld from public disclosure because the audit was performed on proprietary information.
This transmittal letter, however, is publicly available.
