I called Mr Gemming (573-751-4115, X3395), who leads the agencys Missouri River sturgeon monitoring program, to confirm that pallid sturgeon have been captured/collected in recent years in the vicinity of the Callaway intake/discharge, as we assert in the ER. He said pallid sturgeon are regularly collected in this reach of the river, and that they have collected quite a few at the point where the Osage enters the Missouri, approximately 15 mi upstream of the Callaway intake. He said he believes this is a staging area where pallid sturgeon congregate, and I assume he means pre-spawn, but he didnt say specifically.
I asked about reports that might have been generated, and he said their reports are for internal distribution only. He referred me to Mr Dave Herzog (part of the Corps of Engineers Missouri R long-term-monitoring project), who he said is the keeper of the sturgeon data. I have called Herzog several times, but have not been able to get him on the phone:  573-243-2659.
