==Dear Ms. Elisio:==

By {{letter dated|date=July 30, 2021|text=letter dated July 30, 2021}} [Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML21211A603], Holtec International (Holtec) submitted a request to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to amend the Certificate of Compliance (CoC)
No. 1014 for the HI-STORM 100 Cask System. The NRC staff performed an acceptance review of the application to determine if the application contains sufficient technical information in scope and depth to allow the staff to begin a detailed technical review.
This letter acknowledges acceptance of your application. We have established a review schedule based on current workload and priority. The schedule would allow the staff to complete and issue a request for additional information (RAI) in January 2022. If Holtec provides a sufficient response to the RAI in March 2022, and a second RAI is not needed, a draft CoC would be submitted to Rulemaking in September 2022. The staff estimates that completing the safety review of this CoC amendment application will require approximately 100 staff review hours. If an additional RAI is needed, the staff will keep you informed of any schedule or estimate changes. In general, no additional changes to the application should be submitted except for changes resulting from your response to a RAI.

APPLICATION FOR AMDENDMENT NO. 17 TO THE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 1014 FOR THE HI-STORM 100 CASK SYSTEM -

ACCEPTED FOR REVIEW (CAC/EPID NOS. 001028/L-2021-LLA-0140)

Dear Ms. Elisio:

By letter dated July 30, 2021 [Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No.

D. Elisio 2 Please reference Docket No. 72-1014 and CAC/EPID Nos. 001028/L-2021-LLA-0140 in future correspondence related to this request. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me at 301-415-7116 or Kristina.Banovac@nrc.gov.

Sincerely, Signed by Banovac, Kristina on 10/13/21 Kristina L. Banovac, Project Manager Storage and Transportation Licensing Branch Division of Fuel Management Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards Docket No. 72-1014 CAC/EPID Nos. 001028/L-2021-LLA-0140
