Dear Mr. Brach:

With respect to the neconformances identified in the referenced letter concerning 35 purchase orders placed with Gismo Company prior to June 1980 without the supplier being on Ebasco's Approved Suppliers' List, Ebasco has reviewed the files which are still available (Reference 2); however, we have not been able to locate the supportive documentation indicating that the placement of such purchase orders with Gismo was based upon the vendor being approved by Ebasco.

Ebasco is presently reviewing the design classification as indicated on the purchase documents in order to ascertain if the procurement of electric interface material should have been non-safety /non-seismic, thus not requiring the vendor to be on Ebasco's Approved Suppliers' List.

This review is being conducted in the Kenner Louisiana office and will be monitored by the New York office.

As stated previously, Ebasco maintains a,high confidence level that the procurement of subject material does not. represent a safety consideration and we are vigorously pursuing this problem.-Should it be determined that the material is safety related and there is any safety implication,- Ebasco will immediately_ process the condition, as required by our implementing procedures.

Ebasco is not.able to predict a completion date at this time; however, Ebasco will keep your office informed as this review progresses.
