SECY-97-228 TITLE:

FINAL AMENDMENTS TO 10 CFR PART 73,

" CHANGES TO NUCLEAR POWER PLANT SECURITY REQUIREMENTS" The Commission (with Commissioners Dicus, Diaz and McGaffigan agreeing) approved the subject paper as recorded in the Staff Requirements Memorandum (SRM) of November 5, 1997.

The Chairman approved the paper with the exception of the change that would allow armed security guards to exit the protected area and reenter without being searched for firearms.
