Georgia Power Company's (GPC's) letter of March 5,1985, requested that NRC issue future amendments to the Plant Hatch Unit 1 and 2 Technical Specifications "with an effective date to be no later than 30 days from the date of issuance of the amendment." It was our belief that this time period was adequate for GPC to receive, reproduce, distribute, and insert the amendment into controlled copies.               However, it has been our recent experience that the amendments are not received in this office until approximately two weeks from the date of issuance. Therefore, in order to ensure compliance with our document control procedures, we now request that all future amendments not required to be immediately effective, including those now at NRC, be issued with an effective date to be no later than 60 days from the date of issuance of the amendment. Future GPC submittals wTil reflect this request.

20555 NRC DOCKETS 50-321, 50-366 OPERATING LICENSES DPR-57, NPF-5 EDWIN I. HATCH NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 IMPLEMENT P 0N OF CHANGES TO TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Gentlemen:

Georgia Power Company's (GPC's) letter of March 5,1985, requested that NRC issue future amendments to the Plant Hatch Unit 1 and 2 Technical Specifications "with an effective date to be no later than 30 days from the date of issuance of the amendment."

It was our belief that this time period was adequate for GPC to receive, reproduce, distribute, and insert the amendment into controlled copies.
