We have concluded that all applicable Class 1E Systems components cre contained in our Aging Parts List. Those components added to the Aging Parts List as a result of this effort were found to be represented by the 96 components selected for the Short Term Aging Program (WCAP-8587, Supplement 2, Appendix A1)..
We have concluded that all applicable Class 1E Systems components cre contained in our Aging Parts List.
The results give reasonable assurance that no aging mechanism exists that would result in comece code f ailures during a seismic event for five (5) years.                                             ,

INIBQQWGIlQN This document provides the auditable link information on all Class 1E-NSSS equipment, supplied by Westinghouse, applicable to Byron Unit 1, as listed in Table 1.

The intent of this document is to provide an equipment, component aging program and materials eging analysis link for this equipment.

Each segment.of the link is highlighted as follows:

E9MLEstal blQh All the Class 1E-NSSS equipment provided Byron Unit 1 is covered by the Westinghouse qualification programs as documented in Table 2.

Gesannant Link The documents defined in Table 3 were reviewed against the aging parts list utilized in the selection process for components within the Westinghouse Component Aging Program.

The results give reasonable assurance that no aging mechanism exists that would result in comece code f ailures during a seismic event for five (5) years.

j2 i

.. -. ~ - -.. -. ~ ~. -

Meiecieln klah The documents defined in Table 3 were reviewed for organic materials utilized on Byron Unit 1.

Materials that were covered via components in the Component Aging Program were excluded from 4

the list of materials as were materials that were determined to j

be non-critical.

The remaining materials were reviewed against the materials analyzed as part of*the materials aging analysis.

The materials aging analysis (WCAP-8587, SUPP 2, Appendix A2) covered all critical materials supplied to Byron Unit 1 with the following exceptions:

.c ESE-13 Inadequacies in previous qualification testing are being addressed by an ongoing test program.

All requirements of CAE equipment will be satisfied upon completion of these tests.

ESE-14 Qualification is based on similarity of design to the Qualification Test Units (QA8722) BDD for PAM indicators specified in Purchase Order 546-CML-425579-BN.

comparison between Byron's as-built drawing list and that of the 2 and 3 Train SSPS qualification units was performed.

The conparison verified the applicability of qualification results with regard to the equipment (specified in P.O. 546-GLS-209038-BNE) supplied to Byron Unit 1.

ESE-18 The units ordered for Byron Unit 1

on NES/PWR Purchase Order 546-GLP-248606-BN are identical to the unit used for qualification testing as identified within the Baseline Design Document (3017D68 Rev. 8).

ESE-19 The equipment shipped to Byron Unit 1 was built to the same drawing as that of the qualification unit (1143E61 Rev. 2).

The breakers (as specified in Westinghouse NES P.O.

  1. 546-GLP-235075-BN) installed within the panel shipped to Byron Unit 1 are identical in both type and style to those employed in the Qualification Program.

ESE-20 Via completion of FCN

  1. 10537 (installation of I

seismic reinforcements) the reactor trip switchgear for Byron Unit 1 has been updated to meet the r equi rements of IEEE-323-1974.

This equipment is now similar to the equipment built at the. factory and by comparison was shown to be traceable through the Baseline Design Documentation to the tested i

unit.

This Baseline Design Document is identical to that which was used to build the qualification units.

HE-1 Testing by W and Limitorque is currently underway to qualify the existing operators with a new design electric motor.

This testin'g is scheduled to finish in mid-February 1983.

Based on successful completion of this testing, the replacement motors will be delivered in September 1963.

W has already provided an Interim Position to Sargent and Lundy justifying the operation of the existing motors at Byron on an interim. basis.

HE-2/5 ASCO solenoid valves, qualified to IEEE-323-1974 requirements and the W generic program, WCAP-8587, have been provided, under W purchase orders 454818 and 454819, to Byron for all NSSS active Class 1E valves as listed on Rev.

2 to the Byron /Braidwood Class 1E list.

Field Change Notices CAEM-10625, CAEM-10626, CAEM-10627, CBEM-10584, CBEM-10585, and CBEM-10586 have been issued by W

The switches were purchased by W under purchase orders 457113 and 457114.

HE-4 The motor operators originally shipped to Byron with the perent valves were qualified by the testing done by W/Limitorque and documented by EODP-HE-4 and W Test Report 2-HO4A.

Westinghouse is currently finalizing with Limitorque the traceability evaluation to insure motor operators actually on-site at Byron are traceable to that motor operator tested above by W/Limitorque.
