NFPA 805 SECOND PILOT OBSERVATION VISIT TRIP REPORT, MARCH, 2006 We have enclosed the trip report on the second observation visit of pilot plants transitioning to the risk-informed, performance-based fire protection licensing basis in Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 50.48(c), (the NFPA 805 Rule). The trip occurred March 27 to 30, 2006 at Progress Energy headquarters in Raleigh, NC. The two Utilities with transitioning pilot plants; Duke Power for Oconee Nuclear Station and Progress Energy for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant provided briefings. We have included the trip report, the agenda, parking lot issues, and Issue Summary Sheets as enclosures to this memo. The handouts from the meeting are available in a separate file. This trip report will be publically available to provide lessons learned to those non-pilot plants transitioning NFPA 805.
