The proposed alternative would provide relief from the requirements of the 2001 Edition through 2003 Addenda and the 2007 Edition through 2008 Addenda of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section XI, Mandatory Appendix III, Subsubarticle III-3430, Calibration Reflectors, including Mandatory Appendix III, Supplement 1, Paragraph (b)(3). | ||
The purpose of this letter is to provide the results of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs acceptance review of this relief request. The acceptance review was performed to determine if there is sufficient technical information in scope and depth to allow the NRC staff to complete its detailed technical review. The acceptance review is also intended to identify whether the relief request has any readily apparent information insufficiencies in its characterization of the regulatory requirements or the licensing basis of the plant. | |||

Importance: High Gordon, Tom, and Russell, By letter dated May 27, 2016, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML16151A010), Tennessee Valley Authority (the licensee) submitted a request for use of an alternate to Calibration Block Reflector Requirements (16-PDI-5) at TVA Nuclear Plants (Browns Ferry, Units 1, 2, and 3; Sequoyah Units 1 and 2; and Watts Bar Units 1 and 2). The proposed alternative would provide relief from the requirements of the 2001 Edition through 2003 Addenda and the 2007 Edition through 2008 Addenda of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section XI, Mandatory Appendix III, Subsubarticle III-3430, Calibration Reflectors, including Mandatory Appendix III, Supplement 1, Paragraph (b)(3).
The purpose of this letter is to provide the results of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs acceptance review of this relief request. The acceptance review was performed to determine if there is sufficient technical information in scope and depth to allow the NRC staff to complete its detailed technical review.
