DELAY IN COMPLETION OF MATERIAL CONDITION TASK FORCE ITEM ON FUEL OIL SUPPLY SYSTEM BETTERMENTS By letter dated March 20, 1989, Consumers Power Company provided a status update of outstanding action items supporting the NRC's May 21, 1986 Confirmatory Action Letter. In this update we informed the NRC the Material Condition Task Force items relating to the diesel generator fuel oil supply system would not be complete until the end of 1989. Specifically these items address the procurement of a spare fuel oil transfer pump and modification of the fuel oil storage system. Due to budgetary considerations the completion of these items in being deferred to the end of 1990. These items are considered plant betterment activities and, therefore, further delay in completion is not a safety concern.
