River Bend Electrical RAI clarification phone call - questions
Albert and Manny,
After reviewing the RAI response, I have the following questions:
* The response refers to an EPRI aging study for polymeric high voltage insulators. I was unable to find this. Does the applicant have a report number?
* Is there another industry reference, document, handbook, or study regarding polymeric high voltage insulators that the applicant reviewed to arrive at their justifications for not having an aging management program?
* Has the applicant considered some of the recent industry events regarding mechanical wear, corrosion and separation of the metallic parts of the high voltage insulators?
* What is the site-specific preventive maintenance procedure that monitors potential buildup of deposits on the surfaces of new polymeric high voltage insulators? The site has had cooling tower plume chemical deposit issues on porcelain insulators in the past.
: Thanks,

River Bend Electrical RAI clarification phone call - questions

Albert and Manny,

After reviewing the RAI response, I have the following questions:

  • The response refers to an EPRI aging study for polymeric high voltage insulators. I was unable to find this. Does the applicant have a report number?
  • Is there another industry reference, document, handbook, or study regarding polymeric high voltage insulators that the applicant reviewed to arrive at their justifications for not having an aging management program?
  • Has the applicant considered some of the recent industry events regarding mechanical wear, corrosion and separation of the metallic parts of the high voltage insulators?
  • What is the site-specific preventive maintenance procedure that monitors potential buildup of deposits on the surfaces of new polymeric high voltage insulators? The site has had cooling tower plume chemical deposit issues on porcelain insulators in the past.
Thanks,
