SUBJECT:

Interim Finding on Callaway Nuclear Power Plant, Fulton, Missouri At the request of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) tranemits the attached Interim Finding on the Callaway Nuclear Power Plant dated December 14, 1983, and a March 8, 1984, letter from the

. Emergency Management Agency, State of Missouri. The letter from the State of Missouri commits the State to the completion of corrective actions by May 19, 1984, for the deficiencies identified in the Interim Finding. This Interim Finding is based on the FEMA Region VII review of the offsite radiological emergency response plans for the State of Missouri and the Counties of Callaway, Gasconade, Osage, and Montgomery.

FEMA's assessment of the overall preparedness of the State and local governments will be made after the results of the March 21, 1984, exercise at callaway are known.

Submiss on of Interim Findings for Wolf Creek Generating Stati and Callaway Nuclear Power Plant.

In accordance with FEMA Guidance Memorandum of August 5, 1983, enclosed are Interim Findings for Wolf Creek Generating Station and Callaway Nuclear Power Plant. These findings are based on plan reviews only and reflect the comments of the Regional Assistance Committee. Review was based on the planning stan-ards published in NUREG-0654, FEMA-REP-1 (REV. 1).

Enclosed with each Interim Findings is a copy of those State and Local Plans which were reviewed. For Callaway Nuclear Power Plant, there are ': Ave plans submitted. Missouri State Plan and County Plans for Callaway/Fulton, Mont-gomery, Osage, and Gasconade Counties.

For Wolf Creek Generating Station there are two plans; the Kansas State response plan and the Coffee County response plan.
