RESPONSE OF THE STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE TO SEACOAST ANTI-POLLUTION LEAGUE'S OBJECTION TO MOTION TO WITHDRAW CONTENTION NH-10 On June 12, 1986, the State of New Hampshire sought this Board's leave to withdraw Contention NH-10 from further consideration in this proceeding.

As grounds therefore, the State asserted that its concerns had been satisfactorily addressed in the Applicant's written submissions to the NRC Staff and the Staff's review of those DCRDR and SPDS materials.

The State's action signifies no " retreat" from its " commitment to protect public health and safety."

See SAPL's June 19, 1986 Objection to Motion to Withdraw Contention NH-10 at p. 5.

The State's involvement throughout this proceeding, in fact, belies this gratuitous, characterization of the State's motion.
