Oyster Creek Station #1 Docket No. 50-219 OPERATION

SUMMARY

JANUARY 1980 At the beginning of the reporting period, the plant was operating at less than rated output due to the burnup of nuclear fuel in an end of cycle coastdown.

Output continued to decrease until the plant was shutdown for the scheduled refueling outage on January 4.

The refueling outage continued through the reporting period.

Major items scheduled during the outage include:

Replacement of 144 fuel assemblies Replacement of 75 control blades Replacement of 15 control rod drives Modifications to the pressure suppression pool.

Various modifications to implement NRC Lessons Learned requirements.

Five Reportable Occurrences were identified during the month.

N.R.E.0.R. #80-1 occurred on January 5 when plant shutdown led to a fish kill.

R.0. #80-1 was identified on January 5 when "D" Electro-Matic Relief Valve failed to open during a surveillance test.

R.O. #80-2 was identified on January 16. shen a fuel bundle was found to be misoriented in the core.

R.O. #80-3 was identified on January 16 when a crack was found in Core Spray System ll sparger.

R.O. #80-4 was identified on January 19 when a leak was discovered from the Condensate Transfer System.
