This report is required within thirty (30) days of the occurrence.

* Reactor Coolant Leak Detection System - Inoperable, This report was iltitiated by Incident Report 81-486.
CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:
Mode 1 - Rx Power 70% - Unit Load 740 MWe DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:
On November 30, 1981, it was noticed that although the Auxiliary Alarm Typewriter would print, the carriage Since  would the    not move, Auxiliary Alarmwhich rendered' Typewriter provides the typewriter inoperable.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:
The carriage would not move because a spring had beccme disconnected.
ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:
Technical Specification 3.4.6.1 requires:

With only two of the required leakage detection systems operable, operation may continue for up to 30 days provided grab samples of the containment atmosphere are obtained and analyzed at least once per 24 hours when the required gaseous and/or partic hot standby within the next 6 hours and in cold shutdown within the following 30 hours.

LER 01-117/03L CORRECTIVE ACTION:
1 The spring was properly replaced, and'the typewriter operated j  satisfactorily. At 0528 hours, December 1, 1981, Action Statement 1
3.4.6.1 was terminated. Subsequently, the entire typewriter was inspected by the IBM Representative and found to be satisfactory.
