Dear Mr. Ebneter:

SUBJECT:

VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION DOCKET NO. 50/395 OPERATING LICENSE NO. NPF-12 SPECIAL REPORT (SPR 910003) (ONO 910027)

A requirement of Station Administrative Procedure (SAP) 131A, " Fire Service Equipment / System Operability Requirements," is that a Special Report be submitted if a fire pump is inoperable in excess of seven days.

On April 29, 1991, the Electric Driven fire Pump (XPP-134A) was removed from service as a result of surveillance testing which indicated pump wear or fouling to the extent that the minimum flow requirements were being approached. A new pump was installed, tested, and declared operable May 9, 1991. The total time inoperable was 10.5 days.

Should there be any questions, please call at your convenience.

Very truly yours, M.-y UAM,
