Exelon submitted its three-dimensional finite element analysis on January 21, 2009. The Commission directed the NRC Staff, in its supervisory role, to enhance its review of the three-dimensional finite element analysis. The NRC Staff is further reviewing the analysis results in light of the Commissions decision. The results of our analysis will be made available to the public in the near future, at which time we will respond to your letter to Chairman Klein of January 26, 2009. | |||
The NRC Staff plans to answer questions from members of the public, including those related to the March 2009 license renewal inspection, during an Open House the day of Oyster Creek Annual Assessment Meeting scheduled for May 28, 2009. A formal announcement of this Annual Assessment Meeting will be forthcoming; the meeting will be conducted at a location near Oyster Creek. Preliminary results of the March 2009 inspection were summarized in an {{letter dated|date=April 8, 2009|text=April 8, 2009, letter}} to Exelon, which is attached as Enclosure 2. Consistent with past practice in similar NRC inspections, the exit meeting will be held with Exelon in mid-April 2009, and representatives of the State of New Jersey will be invited. Dear Mr. Webster:
I am responding to your letter of March 24, 2009, regarding your request for: (1) a temporary suspension of power production at Oyster Creek on April 9, 2009, and (2) a public meeting on the results of the March 2009 license renewal inspection at Oyster Creek.
On April 1, 2009, the Commission issued its decision regarding your clients petition for review of the initial decision of the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board (Board), LBP-07-17. The Commission declined to disturb the Boards findings and terminated the proceeding.
