ISSUANCE OF FINAL SIGNIFICANCE DETERMINATION This is to inform the Commission that a YELLOW Significance Determination Process (SDP) finding will be issued on or around February 28, 2002, to Entergy as a result of inspections at the Indian Point 2 Nuclear Power Station. This YELLOW finding, an issue with substantial importance to safety that will result in additional NRC inspection and potentially other NRC action, concerned the failure of four of seven (57%) crews during Entergys facility-administered annual licensed operator requalification examinations. A failure by more than 50% of the crews examined constitutes a YELLOW finding under the Operator Requalification SDP.
This finding does not involve violations of any NRC requirements because the operators were removed from shift following the failures and were remediated in accordance with the licensees approved requalification program required by 10CFR55.39(c).
It should be noted that the licensee has not been specifically informed of the final significance determination. The schedule of issuance and notification are:
