On February 16, 2011, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) revised its regulations renumbering 72.212(b)(5) as 72.212(b)(9)(iii). The requirements of 10 CFR 72.212(b)(9)(iii) allow pat-down searches of individuals in lieu of searches by detection equipment prior to entering protected areas as required by 10 CFR 73.55(h)(3)(i).
