ASSESSMENT FOLLOW-UP LETTER FOR BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT 1 - NRC INSPECTION REPORT 05000325/2019007
==Dear Mr. Gideon:== | |||
As a result of its quarterly review of plant performance, which was completed on April 26, 2019, the NRC updated its assessment of Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit 1. The NRCs evaluation consisted of a review of performance indicators and inspection results. This letter informs you of the NRCs assessment and its plans for a future inspection at your facility. This letter supplements, but does not supersede, the annual assessment letter issued on March 4, 2019.
The NRCs review of Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit 1 identified that the Reactor Coolant System (RCS) Leakage performance indicator has crossed the green-to-white threshold. This was the result of increased RCS leakage in the Unit 1 drywell from the March 2019 Cryofit coupling failure.
The NRC determined the performance at Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit 1 during the most recent quarter was within the Regulatory Response Column of the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) Action Matrix. Therefore, in addition to ROP baseline inspections, the NRC plans to conduct a supplemental inspection in accordance with Inspection Procedure 95001, Supplemental Inspection Response to Action Matrix Column 2 Inputs. This inspection procedure is conducted to provide assurance that the root cause and contributing cause of risk significant performance issues are understood, the extent of condition and the extent of cause are identified, and the corrective actions are sufficient to prevent recurrence. This inspection will be scheduled after you notify the NRC of your readiness. This letter will be made available for public inspection and copying at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html and at the NRC Public Document Room in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Public Inspections, Exemptions, Requests for Withholding.

ASSESSMENT FOLLOW-UP LETTER FOR BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT 1 - NRC INSPECTION REPORT 05000325/2019007
Dear Mr.
