Dear Mr. Adam:

The Occupational. Health Standards Branch of the Office of Standards e,

Development is considering the preparation of a regulatory guide on the subject of risk from occupational radiation exposure.

If published, the guide will be intended as a component of radiation protection training at all NRC-licensed facilities.

The initiating request that such a guide be developed was received from one of the major unions in the nuclear industry.

The primary beneficiary of a risk guide is the worker. We feel it is appropriate and essential that we receive input from worker representatives as we begin development of the guide.

We are scheduling a meeting with union representatives and NRC staff to discuss the objectives" content' and scope of the risk guide.

The meeting is at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28' 1978, in Conference Room P-ll8 in the NRC Phillips Building located at 7920 Norfolk Avenue in Bethesda.
