IMPROVED STANDARD TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS -(ITS) - SUPPLEMENT 34 - SECTION 5.0, ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL 3 This letter responds to NRC's December 23, 1997, telephone request from Mr. Ron Hernan that TVA revise TS-372 and the Nuclear Quality Assurance Plan (NOAP) to-reflect a recent title change for the senior nuclear officer position.

TS-372 is a-general revision of Section 6.0,

" Administrative Controls" and was originally submitted to NRC on June 6, 1996. provides the requested chang; to TS-372 that revises the senior nuclear officer title from President, TVA Nuclear and Chief Nuclear Officer to Chief Nuclear Officer.

Also, to maintain consistency, Enclosure 2 provides the same change to Section 5.0 " Administrative Controls" of TS-362.

TS-362 is TVA's conversion submittal to ITS and was originally submitted to NRC on September 6, 1996.

Justification for Change A2 in TS-362 has been revised appropriately and is included in the Enclosure.

Note that this change supersedes the title change provided in the L

1998 The subject TS revisions'.are administrative titleichanges-that do not affect the_ implementation of TS_ requirements.

The position-that is responsible at the corporate level for safe. operation and overall nuclear safety has not changed.

Theichanges do not' alter.the determinations provided with the original submittals of TF-372 and TS-362 that-there are no significant hazards considerations associated with the'

. proposed change and the determination that changes qualify for a categorical exclusion from environmental-review pursuant to _ the provisions of 10 CFR 51.22 (c) (9.'.

Additionally, in accordance with 10 CFR 50.91(b) (1), TVA is sending a copy of this letter-and enclosures to the Alabama State Department of Public Health.
